Here in our neck of the woods the economy seems to be double dipping. I always try to keep a well stocked pantry. Even more so with this economy. We've always lived the Simple side of life, we
don't have huge wants, and when the economy tanked I think it was easier for us than
alot of Family and Friends.
I know our Lifestyle is not for everyone, its a Great feeling to be debt free and less worry free lives. Sure we have daily worries and trails like everyone. We have some Family and Friends who are in their late 60s and early 70s who is so upside down in their home mortg. they'll never get it paid off., and owes more than they could sell it for.
One of our Local stores has been having some great sales can fruit and Can veggies .24-.29 per can, you have to buy 10 cans to get this price. We buy - by the case. We have been stocking our pantry. I Love to cook , we don't eat out alot .We Love picnics and cook outs. We have found we have more fun having a pot luck with Family and Friends , in the past we would sometimes meet up at a rest. now we meet here or someones home, everyone seems more relaxed and have more time to enjoy each others company.
I enjoy gardening ,canning, freezing, and drying alot of our food.
One store had a big sale on zuc. and yellow squash , I bought several , I dried them for soups .
I try hard not to have food waste. I plan out menus , I use left overs up one day it will be mashed pits. the next pot. cakes or shepherd's pie.
What do you do towards stocking your pantry?
The storms were bad the other night ,no damage here put other parts of town did.
Hope ya'll have a great day!
