Produce

Has anyone ever used these produce bags? I just bought them and last night put a head of lettuce in one. At $1.89 per head would be nice to keep it for awhile! I use the bread bags ,they do work well .But never used the produce.

With the Fl. freeze I've been buying frozen berries for the freezer.Come Spring there will be a shortage ,I'm sure. I really stay on top of food waste and try to be as frugal as possible.

Winding down

Trying to get the house back in order. lol DH painted the hall ,he's hanging paintings etc. back up for me.. This window has mirrors in this pic. its picked up the other wall and looks white like nothings in it.
Have about 1/2 of the hoosier painted. Hope to finish up tomorrow, and all we will like is painting rooms. Want to finish before Spring gets here, Spring is a busy season around here .

Thank You so much for all your prayers! Our Little Shadow had surgery this morning. Doing really well now!;o)
When they brought her back to her room and she was waking up she was a Little Bear!!!!!!!!!Never seen her so Grumpy! lol Wasn't Long before she was back to her sweet ,Loving self!
I can't remember what its called that's wrong with her , how it works a small spot comes up and it can be the size of a marble or smaller and the next thing you know it can be the size of a fist. Its filled with infection and a hard core, the Dr. said this was a first for him ,with the core,it was a real Monster! He said he was able to remove it all . Its very painful until opened up and drained then the pain is not so bad.This is the 1st time this has happened to her.And hoping the last!
She's on an IV drip and she be home in a few days.

Prayer's Please

Please remember Our Little Shadow (Jayce) in your prayers,she is in the hospital. She had a little spot that came up and the Drs. lanced it ,packed it,she had to go to the Dr. for the packing to be removed and another place had come up so the Dr. sent her straight to the hospital. Only 2 people can be with her, so we're waiting by the phone. Thanks!

About finished

We're about to finish up ,a few touch ups, and moving things back into place. I painted the china cabinet ,have it filled again.

This is a counter I use for an island.Putting towel racks on it to hold kitchen towels.

I wanted an open shelf so I could reach and get items as needed and not have to hunt in cabinets.

I need to do some more rearranging to get it how I want it.Also paint the base of this red top table white. I'll paint it in a few days when I paint the base of the d.r. table.

Put glass knobs on the island and get the other towel rack hung, and things moved back into place. Today we're putting things in place as then going back rearranging things I didn't like .Need to paint the hoosier cabinet and table base.

Yesterday DH painted the hall, need to hang paintings back . Then it will be time to paint other rooms and be finished .

We're Getting There

As you can see we still have more work to do. The sink cabinet was installed yesterday. Poor Plummer, he turned the water back on to test it, the hot water pipe came lose ,and he was hit all over with hot water!He worked on it again and now its fine ,he said he was also.

This is not an excititing pic. lol The painting has been completed since the pic. was made. A few months ago we had the bathrooms remodeled. This season in life ,we had the tub removed and went with a walk in shower.We Love it.We painted the walls Dark Marsh ( about like hunter green) I Love green .Not sure what it is,I've always been a pastel girl, I find the older I get I like brighter and more bold colors.

Hoping to get all the work finished up today. I have been able to but somethings back in place !:o)

While The Dust Is Flying

While the dust is flying ,I am playing in fabric. I decorate like I want,I don't follow rules.lol I think our Home should reflect who we are not according to someone's rules. I'm going with my 1940's style theme I bought this table runner after Christmas on a75% off sale,its red on one side green on this side. I added the red and green hearts. I made red coasters with small green hearts in the center.The cof. dyed hearts I hand stitched words on.

I cof. dyed muslin traced off the chicken and did her in red work .I'm debated on painting the pic. frame red.What do you think?

Most of the remodeling has been done ,just a small amount to do today ,maybe tomorrow. Then we get to put everything in place and Paint walls and we will be finished. :o) It will take us a few wks. I'm guessing to paint each room, it's the age thing.lol

Time Out

I am taking a Blogging Break this week.We have a crew coming out tomorrow to do remodeling for a few days. So having to clear out and after their finished putting everything back in order .It will be a full week , but will be well worth it when putting everything back together .And decorating !
We are suppose to get more snow ! Its bitterly cold !

No Going Here!

We only have a small amount of snow ,its the ice under the snow ! So no getting out of here.

DS made it home last night but had to park his car down the road and walk in. We have snow trucks but they never make it out to the country roads.

We are stocked to the brim on everything , living here all my life I know we have to stockpile for winter weather !We will not be above freezing until Mon.

In The Kitchen

I'm in the kitchen today, but not cooking. I am washing all the do-dads. Not one of my favorite jobs ,but has to be done.lol

I love a 1940's Style kitchen ans that's how I dec. my kitchen/d.r. I have several pieces of my Grandmother and My Mom's kitchen items. I use them ,but also dec. with them .As I clean ,I am also decluttering.

After caretaking for the past wk. its Wonderful to be home ,cleaning our home !

So what are you up to today?Whatever it is I hope you're having a warm and cozy day!

Looking ahead

It is Bitter cold here!Warm and cozy inside. I am not a winter person! So I am thinking Spring!I try to take one day at a time just like the Good Lord gives them to us, but days like today sure makes me want to rush Spring. Suppose to get 6ins. of snow by the end of the wk.

I bought these bunnies on 1/2 off sale at the Junk store they match the tea cup and saucers thought they would work well for a Spring tea party.

For now I will enjoy each day and dream of Spring. My Favorite Season!

Simple Life

Hope everyone is having a Great new year! Did you eat your "New Year Foods?" lol We had pork chops, mixed greens, blackeyed peas, sliced toms. onions, and cornbread.

I am putting away Christmas Decs. etc. and trying to Simplify more and more. This is a good time of yr. to think whats important and whats not ,and weed out the" NOTS!"

Trying to organize each room as I go . Getting rid of clutter, which I have really been on top of the past few yrs.

I hit alot of 50-75% off sales after Christmas.I have next yrs. gifts bought and stored. I have a few things to craft. I shop and craft gifts yr. around ,but thought I'd try this route to see if it works better for me. Have some birthday gifts bought.

I did quite well stockpiling and now cooking from the pantry .There will be a few items to pick up milk etc. I'm not on to work from a list ,mostly mental list. I am thinking of a menu list each wk. to see if it works better for me. I tend to think ahead a few days for meal planning .

Of course there is always the budget to work on . I try hard to stick with a budget.

I want to Spring clean and organize each room. These bitter cold days are good days to stay in and clean!

1/2 Off Sales

Hope everyone had a Blessed Christmas! We did! Always Great to Gather with Family and Friends!

This morning we went to some 1/2 off sales. Of Course I had to check out the Junk store first stop.lol Good Will was having a 1/2 off sale and I had seen a few items I wanted to buy.The Vintage creamer/sugar for one. I had the snowflake candle holder but found the other 2 they work great together. The green cup and saucer looks like a cof. cup in the pic. but they are soup bowls.Found a set of those. I love a pretty table setting I found the solid blue set of dishes last wk. I know one set of dishes is enough for anyone .I do have a set of china but for everyday dishes I mix and match . The rooster dishes I found at Dollar Tree this a.m. I only go with 4 when I buy odd dishes the solid blue will work fine with the rooster dishes. I found several other items at the junk store and Reg. stores.SO I have started on next yrs. list. I know everyone doesn't do this but I like to finish up my Christmas list as early as possible and when the season rolls around I can relax and enjoy the Season! I have some stitchin' patterns I want to make for gifts ,I was on the hunt to pic. frames and found several .

I like to dec. the table for each season/holiday. Right now is a good time to find items for that with 1/2 sales. New items at the reg. store . Junk stores I've been buying bunnies for Easter. As the holiday rolls around they up the prices so off season is a good time to buy. I'm making homespun Kitchen towels for each holiday . I will hand stitch hearts for Valentines, Bunny for Easter. etc. I guess us crafters are always Season's ahead of the times.Lol

I Did It

I love these dish clothes and use them all the time now. My Dear Friend Nancy made me some.
I do not knit. I really can't crochet I can chain and I can make a Granny square that's it!
I bought Peaches and Cream cotton yard and a crochet needle ,I was determined to make a dishcloth. SO here it is . I have a ways to go as you can see in the pix. but slowly I'll get there. Practice makes perfect.:o)
Have friends coming by later .Little Shadow is still with us. She wants to spend the night again tonight.We will take her home tomorrow evening when we go to our Christmas gathering at her house.

Junkin'

Does anyone remember these Glasses from their childhood? I sure do! I was the Lucky customer at the Junk store today I saw these glasses for $2.99 As I checked out I was the luck star for the day and they were free.The yellow bowl was $1.99 and the tree was.50 .All the junk stores are having 50%-75% off this wk. Love those wks. I found other great buys I'll show you later.

It was so much fun Junkin' with Family today and Of Course we took our "Little Shadow" with us:o) She Loves to go Junkin' too.

Handmade hearts with Love

Baby It's "COLD" outside. We had a dusting of snow over night and black ice on the roads, so we are staying in where it's warm and cozy.I made a big pot of Veggie soup,DH made a pan of cornbread, so I will play in fabric and craft the day away.
I Love hearts. I lightly cof. stained some muslin ,cut heart shapes ,hand stitched words on ,put buttons on, and a small amount of fiberfill, stitched together. These can be used for ornies or just hanging yr. around, or Pkg. toppers.

Country Angel

I am playing in fabric today. The snow hit all around us but nothing here, which I am glad. Its cold out but warm and cozy inside.

I lightly cof. dyed this muslin fabric ,I need to put some blush on her cheeks.You can hang as a tree dec. or hang for an everyday dec.

At this Season in life I have more time to play in crafts ,in the past I had craft booths an entered craft shows ,I had to keep busy crafting to keep up the demand,altho I enjoyed it sometimes it seemed more like work than play as it feels now.

I'm In Stitchin'Heaven

I am in Stitching Heaven!:o) A Dear Friend Ginger came to visit today. She brought all these stitching goodies. Emb. thread,Muslin, and light green cotton fabric.The little squares are vintage fabric. any idea's on what to make with them? Also the Vintage throw I love all the different colors. Also quilting mags. and Mary Jane's mags. I've found several patterns I want to try. Thanks so much Ginger!

The weatherman is calling for bitter cold temps.and snow ,so I can keep busy stitching! Once it snows there's no getting out of here.We are stocked for the winter , sure hope we don't lose electric if we do we lose,power, cable, phones and internet.

Handmade Ornies and a handmade Doll

Please meet Miz. Freda Belle .down here in the South we tend to name everything.lol I love doll making .The sky is the limit with doll making. I collect a number of items to dress the dolls. I hunt yard sales, junk,antique shops for supplies. Old broken junk jewelry some not broken,lace,ribbon,little silk flowers, buttons table scarfs,,felt, fabric,anything fun to recycle into doll clothes.

I also Love making hearts ! I use them yr.around .When I use them for ornies I hang with fishing line. I like to set them around ,use as bowl fillers,hang them.

I like all shapes and sizes of hearts.

When I craft I feel as tho' I play the day away. I think when we do what we Love it is more like play then work. If I'm not in a crafting mood, I might as well forget trying to make anything.

I use to think it odd until I started entering craft shows and got to know crafters, I can NOT read directions, I can look at a pic. and make something. It happens more often that I would ever thought .

Grubby Ornies

I've been playing in cotton quilt batting scraps. I made these grubby ornies yesterday.I cut the heart shapes stitch up with blanket stitch with 6 strands of emb.thread,I spray them with strong cof. stain , dry in the oven on the lowest heat, (have to keep areal close eye on them in the oven)you could air dry.I have several tins of buttons ,I hand sew buttons on , I cut strips of grocery bags and wrote sayings and glue to some of the hearts. Joy,Peace etc. Some I emb. snowflakes on.
I love hearts and use them in decorating yr. around some I hang , some I use as bowl fillers. These can be used on the Christmas tree or a valentine tree or just for decorating.

A Dear friend of mine Susan P. from Canada made these Beautiful Stockings. I Love the Santa.
Susan does lots of Penny rug items. She shops Thrift shops for alot of her supplies.:o) I Love the recycle idea.:o)

It's Time to..........

Rise and Shine. The past few days has been so cold,all I wanted to do was nest in. To keep busy I've been stitching. Kids coloring pages are a great way of getting simple patterns. I found the rooster and printed off, I taped it to the storm door,traced the pattern onto my fabric and started stitch. You can use a light box or tracing paper but I go this route. Easy and simple to do.

I have several patterns to iron on I want to stitch after the holidays .

Our "Little Shadow" spent the night with us.She and DH are watching a Christmas Movie.

It is cold out! And suppose to get colder 17 degrees infact, so I am Nesting in today.

I am caught up on everything for the moment, so it will be a Simple Laid back Nest day for me.

SimpleOld Fashion Handmade Christmas With Love

I Love a Simple Old Fashion Handmade With Love Christmas! No matter how well the economy is ,I still want an Old Fashion Christmas. I love to cook and I love to share. I try to make up items this time of the yr. and have for our Family and Friends each time they visit. I miss My Dear Friend "TREASURE" so much this time of the yr. she would could by and we'd have a tea party , she was Great to come visit when my Mom was so sick and we couldn't go anywhere. She Loved going through all the Goodies I had made and picking out something to take home with her. She was a Loving True Friend. She passed 3 yrs. ago .Her real name was "Treasure" he Dad named her. :o)

You can buy gifts and they are nice I'm not knocking that. To me there's just Something Special about Handmade with Love. I Love making Gift baskets with a theme. You can dress each item up or go simple such as this bread and tea mix. I save jars through out the yr. and fill with hot choc. mix, or Friendship Tea or any mix drink. I buy foil pans through out the year just for Christmas projects, plastic wrap etc. I have a good supply on hand and as the Season gets closer buy last min. items. After Christmas sales is a good time to buy ribbon or Christmas fabric to dress up your gift. You can Google for recipes for gifts in a jar, candy,cookie, etc. recipes.Or use your favorite recipe.

At this Season of our lives most of our Family and Friends are decluttering and downsizing . And enjoying a more Simple life. What are some gifts you make and give?

A Dear Friend Nancy made this Beautiful Table runner for me as a Christmas Gift this year.I Love it ,Nancy does BEAUTIFUL work!!!!!!!!! Thanks again Nancy!

Another Treasure to me is this Vintage tablecloth,place mats from a Dear Friend Miss Lillie,and oil lamp from one of my dear Nephew's who is Miss Lillie's Grandson.

I am so BLESSED to have so many Treasures from Family and Friends!

As you know I Love the Simple side of life , I think our Home should reflect Us ,I tend to decorate to reflect our personalities not for the latest trend. I don't want to keep up with anyone,I want to make our House a Home, a Safe Loving place to return daily.Warm and cozy!

I am Blessed to have a Loving Christian Home, I know my Guys Loves me they shower me with Love daily.I have no problem with others wanting Material Things. That's just not me .DH was raised in a Home where you seek Bigger and Better and it took him awhile to Understand my ways of enjoying the Simple side of life. He couldn't understand when some new thing came out on the Market why I didn't want to be the first on the st. to want to buy it.I kept explaining to him THINGS can not hug me and tell me Every things going to be all right in the hard painful times of life. Now he Understands and enjoys living the Simple side of life.

I know its a tough economy these days ,and it makes me even more Thankful I Love the Simple side. We are so BLESSED in this Season of life we have a Home with no payments,we have a nice warm bed to sleep in ,clothes to wear,we have plenty of food to eat and share.All our needs met.Most important we have God and each other and Friends! Life is Good!

Did I say...........

YELLOW...Lol We still have touch up painting to finish ,and more work to do before we put everything back together. Somedays I wonder will we ever be finished, but I know its part of remodeling, repairs etc.

We started these projects last summer.We remodeled the l.r. both baths ,and now the kitchen.

We do one room at a time until finished. After the kitchen is complete we need to start with the d.r. and painting bedrooms. Any other time we would of been finished long ago ,but with caretaking you have to pick and chose the days we can work on it.

The caketaker was my GrandMother's then my Mom's ,now mine.Theres been lots and lots of Homemade cakes shared from it.The cake server was theirs also.I Love Family Treasures!

One thing for sure we have a BRIGHT and CHEERY Kitchen.:o)

Simple Christmas

I Love this time of year.And I Love a Simple Old Fashion Christmas.We try hard to focus on the True Meaning of Christmas. This time of year I turn the Hoosier Cabinet into a tea/Hot Choc. Bar.With remodeling and caretaking I am trying to go as simple as possible.We enjoy sharing a cup a....... just the 2 of us or with Family and Friends. I fill jars with hot choc.mix some I leave plain ,

Some I crush mints and put into the mixture ,some I put Marshmallows in ,I keep jars of flavored cof. creamer to mix into the hot choc. per cup. I make Friendship tea also known as Russian Tea. I keep different Boxes of flavored tea ,I make different flavors of tea mix.

The Blue Tea towel was a gift from a VERY SPECIAL FRIEND AMANDA,whom I Love and Miss Very Much! The Homespun towels draped across the doors I made.

Other than clear light I haven't dec. the garland yet. I have a few idea how I want to dec. it.

On a cold Night such as tonight ,a hot cupa.......sure warms us up.

Every Sun. we go to take my Mother-n-law to S.S. and church ,we want go in the morning the snow is gone the streets are wet and 20s tonight ,don't want to chance black ice as we have to go the next town over.I have dinner cooked ( lunch) for tomorrow ,after it warms up to where we can get out we will take lunch and stay with her until a Grandson comes to stay. As of now I want be able to post on Suns. but hope to be able to keep up most other days.

Snow In Private Paradise

We awoke to snow.It's still snowing. I don't rememeber a snow this early in the season in yrs.

It is nice to look out and see the snow falling. And be inside nice and Warm!!!!!

DS had to work ,when he left we only had a dusting. He works in a grocery store ,all you Friends in the South knows what his day will be like.LOL Wonder if their out of Bread and Milk yet?Lol

I made Hot Tamales not long ago I think this would be a good day to pull a bag out of the freezer and make a pot of chili.

On Top Of Old Smoky

It's going to snow tonight! We are so blessed to have The Great Smoky Mtns. in our back door.

The Smokies are Beautiful anytime of the year. I Love to see snow on top of the mtns.

Its a little early for us to get snow, Yrs. ago we use to get big snows but now days a dusting to a couple ins. is about all we get. In the mtns. its a different story!

The temps are falling fast! It seems more like the Christmas Season with cold temps and snow.

When it snows there is no getting out of here.We are stocked for the winter, and very thankful for that.

I missed not posting. Its great to be back and able to visit all my Special Friends!

While I was away I was busy caretaking, canning, freezing food,gardening, crafting as time allowed. We had a BLESSED summer. Since DH is approaching Retirement Yrs. we are trying to get some remodeling as well as repairs behind us. Not sure what I was thinking to start back this time of the yr. LOL Right now we are painting the kitchen. I must of gotten a big sniff of paint when I picked it out LOL I love yellow once we got it on the walls it is "YELLOW"I've always heard yellow is cheery , so we should NOT have an down moments here.lol I do like bright colors but didn't realize I picked such a bright yellow.

Tea Time

Hope Everyone is having a Blessed Christmas Season!
Want you have a cup a......with me? It has been so long since I've been able to blog ,I have missed it.Thanks for all your comments,emails,and calls!
At the moment the only care taking we're having to do is for my Mother-N-law. Of course she will only get worse ,never better.
Life is slowly getting back to the Simple side for us!:o)
So much has gone on in the last 6 months. I am so Happy things are slowing down and we can enjoy the Good life.
Our days are busy but we're able to stop and have a cup of tea and enjoy the moment.

My cousin is doing much better.
My Mother-n-law will never get better ,only worse.:o(
Now, my Brother is in the hospital.
I haven't been able to spend alot of time with "Little Shadow" seems there's never enough hrs. in the day. Gardening, chores, caretaking the list goes on. I will be taking a Blogging break uptil I can get back to posting daily or every few days! I will visit as I can!

Family

We are enjoying Family Time. My cousin will be here until Sat.

Every night we rock on the porch. We're having cook outs, picnics ,talking for hours, just making sweet Memories. Little Shadow has been spending some nights but here daily.:o)

As soon as I can I'll visit. Hope everyone is having a great wk.

Try Trying !!!!

I like to fill my life with positive people.I know we all know someone who's neg. Not matter what they are always complaining! Some we can walk away from , some are Family member's and we can't walk away .
I am trying hard to see the pos. in everything!A dear Little Friend Hannah(4yrs.old) told me one day very excited,"Today is a New day,A new start for Everyone" I thought" Wow, I wish everyone could think that way!"
I am working very hard on when a neg. thought comes to mind chase it off quickly with a pos. thought, I am "Trying to Try "daily not to complain, worry, enjoy each day to the fullest.
What do you do to stay focused on Pos. things in Life?

No Matter What............

Thanks again for your prayers , as always we always need prayers. Nothing has changed here.

We know we can never give up, we must keep pressing forward. Somehow ,someway God will allow things to work out. We try our best to live one day at a time, just as God gives them to us!

We've had rain and more rain the past few days .More to come. So wet we can't do much outdoors, so trying to do extras inside. Next wk. at cousin from Oxford ,Oh. will be in town. They will come over one night for a pot luck gathering. Everyone looks forward to seeing her.
